My firm has scheduled me to take the NASD Series 55 exam.

Has anyone here taken the exam? What test prep materials did you use and do you have any advice on passing it?

From Businesssavvy.com

The Series 55 exam is administered by the NASD and is composed of 100 questions. Students are given 180 minutes to complete the exam. The test consists of four-option multiple-choice questions. The exam is computer-based, although no special computer skills are required. Students are provided with scratch paper, a pencil and a simple calculator at the testing center. Students must receive a score of 70% or better to pass.

Have you taken the exam stealthplanner? I appreciate the info you provided but I was already aware of that. I'm looking for a little more detailed info. So far this is some of the info I know if you'd like to learn more.

The series 55 is a killer, one of the hardest exams given by the NASD.

Any validity to what they are saying? Come on there has to be someone here that has taken this exam. I know I won't be the first one on this board to take it.

That's ok stealth. I have been combing the web for info. I just received the Dearborn 55 book today from a colleague. The only problem is it's the 6th edition and there is a 7th edition out. The book is only around 175 pages of info.

I found the dearborn update page online about recent changes from the 6th edition to the 7th. It also includes changes after the 7th edition.

I am really surpised that others are saying this test is difficult if there are only 175 pages to study.

Its for traders. Ive never heard of anyone failing it. NASD exams are very easy, except the 86, which Ive heard sucks real bad. Like Level 2 of the CFA.

Well I've read through this thread on ET and it would seem this is the most difficult test the NASD offers. Or it's up there as one of the most difficult. I know that some don't like to follow links, so I'll post a few comments on the Series 55 here.

"I wanted to revise this thread in case any of you are currently studying for the Series 55. I just took the test, and I passed it (74), but just barely. The test was surprisingly difficult. I assumed I was well prepared because I was consistently scoring in the mid 80s, and even a 94, on the practice exams. The real test is much harder. Study hard! You don't want to take this test more than once.

Good Luck"

"I agree!

Do not take this test lighty.

More people have had trouble with the 55 than any of the other
test.

Study and Good Luck."

"Breakin,
Not to scare you, but I scored a 91 on the last Dearborn practice test and only scored a 74 on the real thing. I took about 5 practice tests and my range was 76-91. Good luck."

"I got a 70, whewww...............

that was a close one, I would recomend to anyone to take this test very seriously, It is not a test of how well you know the material like the 7. It is more test of your ability to figure out what they want for an answer.

I will be moving to Boca Raton to work at the Worldco office---

thanks for the input guys!"

I studied during lunch and passed. It really wasn't that hard at all. Doesn't your company give you books?
