I attended a function where Niall was the main speaker the other day, and I agree with the description that “he does indeed know a lot less than economists knew in the 1920s”.
 
He’s a historian with right wing agendas and weaves economic analysis and statistical data into his analysis. Have you read “Cash Nexus”? I think his books are quite good, but hey, what do I know?
 
His books are excellent. He is a historian - not an economist, and he approaches everything as such. I dont really see the need for criticism in the regard.

Can you expand on what you mean.
I watched the Ascent of Money, very good. As pointed out he’s a historian and seems to go toe to toe with Krugman on monetarism vs keynesianism as far as I can tell.
