Thank you so much for your generous offer prosandy. We share the same philosophy on not selling books.

how about you email me your mailing address to [email protected]
and I will mail you the cheque, with my shipping address.

I was thinking of doing the same with my GMAT books before I go to school - so if there is anyone you know who is looking for GMAT books, let me know.

I am at work full-time now and am planning on school this fall. Still haven't decided which school - waitlisted at MIT, would be an easy choice if that comes through.

Thanks again prosandy.

dind,

I am also a sw engineer and have made a career switch to finance. But instead of taking the MBA track, I returned to school to earn a second degree in finance. As to your questions about which curriculum to follow, I took a course on each of the topics that you listed in 1b) and they have all provided excellent groundwork for an understanding in finance.

Although I'm sure the Schweser material and the CFA 4-volume set provide excellent information for the exam, you may want to consider reviewing some texts that cover the individual topics (i.e. Financial Statements, Economics, Financial Management, Quantitative Methods, etc.). For myself, the material I learned in those classes make reading the CFA 4-volume set much easier to understand.

Since earning a second undergraduate degree in Finance is not an option for you, I would recommend you spend some time on some of the individual topics. One option would be for you to pick up a used Finance text book (or Economics, Statistics, etc.) and study the material in conjunction with the Schweser review material. Whatever topic you happen to be covering in Schweser, you could also be reading up on the corresponding topic in a used text book.

Good luck with your career change.
