OMG - Huge Difference between Shweser and CFA mocks. Please advice...

Hi everyone,
I did Schweser mocks, book 6 for 3 times each. Finally I scored more than 80% in each. I thought I was pretty strong and ready for actual thing, until I tried CFA mock. Check out my scores:
Overal Score for 240Q is 69.6%; Here comes the details:
Eth - 72% & 78%
Q - 93% & 57%
Econ - 50% & 58%
FRA - 79% & 67%
CF - 50% & 80%
PM - 83% & 67%
Equity - 67% & 67%
Fixed Income - 75% & 67%
Der - 67% & 50%
AI - 67% & 83%
Overall: 72% & 67.5%
I am frustrated by score. Although I have read that CFA mocks are tougher than Schweser mocks, or even actual thing but still.
I don’t have any other new mocks to test myself. I am planning to go through this one for few times and read secret sauce. Is it good plan for last 2 weeks? Any suggestions?

my advice be to concentrate a bit more on FRA..its almost 20% weightage and given if u have ever studied accounts beforehand its almost like a walk in the park

Dear your score looks great. What do you mean by ‘I did Schweser mocks, book 6 for 3 times each’ . I have schweser practice exam Vol 1 and Vol 2 each comprising 3 full exams, is that the one you are referring?

Exactly, I did 3 ful exams of Vol 1 for 3 times each. And also First exam of Vol 2 for 2 times. Average Score there was upto 80%.

Kind of strange you know, when I started preparing for this exam, all I knew was accounting before, the rest were totally new for me and now I find it as my weakness.

How about time ? Do you think 3 hours are enough (including filling in the bubbles)?. My god, I still have 3 practice exams left. I will be doing them this week in hand with revising weak areas. I am frustrated when seeing your scores :(( ?
A friend of mine advised me that I should at least make sure I would not make the same mistakes that I did in mock and practice exams, then everything will be okay.

Time is big issue for me;
I spent more than 2 minutes on Ethics and Econ Questions and try to compensate it with the questions I think I don’t have chance to answer correctly and do the wild guesses within seconds.
One more thing - I am a bad smoker and I don’t have any idea how I should handle nonstop 3 hours. I have 5 minutes rest three times within 3 hours. totally it is 15 minutes so, I do exam in 2.45h.
 
You are fine man. Do the CFAI end of chapter questions again. Alot of them. Focus on the ones you got wrong and redo those.
If you are scoring over 80s on Schweser and almost 70 on your first CFAI, you should be fine.
As for the smoking, I have no idea. Try the gum or the patch. Either way, test it out before the exam. Maybe it’s a good incentive to quit if you fail this thing because of it. Disgusting habit.
 
It’s not that big of a difference at all…. ^_^
i think you will find some discrepencies from one Schweser exam to another.
Within 5% difference is VERY consistent.
 
@OP: If it is possible for you then do buy elan mocks. They lean more towards conceptual question and i think it would serve you better if you can attempt them and learn from your NEW mistakes, instead of doing the old mocks again and again.
Btw your scores are not that bad, so don’t worry much. Just practice a bit more and and i’m sure you will be in great shape for the exam.

I am planning to go through secret sauce of schweser, study and analyse every 2013 CFA mock question and its related materials and memorise formulas. Hope it will be enough.

Ensure that you do as many CFAI mocks and CFAI style questions before the exam because that is the only way to crack an exam conducted by CFAI
