So I wen to CFA's site and tried to sign up for June '07 and the fees came out to $760?! Are you serious??? I swear I read that the exam was only $200-$300. God, three-quarters of a grand is a lot of money and I really can't cough that up right now :( *Cry* I can't imagine failing it and having to pay that amount again :( *Cry some more*

the $760 includes the 1-time regsitration fee. yaaa.. its expensive, but it's also useful to serve as one's motivation. Good luck to us!

If you fail, you cough up the exam fee. Not the one-time registration fee again.

If you are already registered and buy books for the second time it's about 700 USD if you sign up early, that's once you get by L1. However, if you want tog et any other material, i.e. Schweser you are going to have to cough up some more bucks.

Just read the newest salary survey for CFA charterholders (which should be available on the CFA site) and figure out the expected cost-benefit relationship there, you'll see it's worth it, besides a CFA is alot cheaper than a masters degree in finance and goes alot further that that, depending on your capcity.

"three-quarters of a grand is a lot of money"

for a pair of shoes maybe...

considering you can get a very respected designation for under 3k all in...the roi is pretty darn high.
