optional segment in the exam?

will the optional segment readings in the cfaI material occur in the exam? for example, the pricing of T-bill future part where to the right there is a optional segment sign.
 
does that mean no need to read at all or it is better to understand them for exam?
 
Better read the area. I haven’t left it. Someone told me that it has been discussed in Level I curriculum that’s why optional is written. As I had done Level I from Schweser that’s why can’t say about that but I haven’t left that area.

There were plenty of optional readings on level 1 (ethics section) n I skipped righttt over them. Y else would they put optional unless it’s not covered? Don’t waste ur time
 
it is your option whether you only want to read what’s needed on the exam or read more on that particular topic area, that’s what the ‘optional’ sections are for.
 
indeed found that most of the optional segment are reviews of level I
