I think most people will agree that FRA is the most difficult topic on the exam. It is for me at least. I think I will do miserably on FRA. Here’s the question to all of you. If a candidate excels in every section of the exam but fails FRA miserably, do you think the candidate will pass?
Say I score 80% on every section of the exam except FRA, but I score 40% on FRA, do you think I would pass? So basically, that would be basically 9 scores in the >75% range and 1 failing(<50%) score.
What do you guys think?

For the sake of test itself you can fail multiple sections and still pass the exam. Though I dont know to what extent you excel and whatever matrix this adds up to the total percentage. Pass rate is probably around 65-70%
Don’t give it up try secret sauce/youtube etc. You can surely nail it down.
Much of the command words in level 1 ask you to, define/discuss/evaluate etc.
Good luck !!

FRA is NOT difficult if you read through the CFA books. I got >70 in FRA and Ethics and yet got bummed in the exam.
Having said that if you think you can get ~80% in all other sections and ~40% in FRA, that’s be 80*0.8 + 20*0.4 = 72% which is more than enough for a pass but I don’t think you’d do as miserably as you think you’d do in FRA tho’
Trust me FRA is easy as long as you go through all the problems explained during the chapter and if you understand the answers for the EOC Q’s

thanks for the responses guys.Wait, you score >70 in both FRA and ethics and you failed the exam???

From what I understand the 70% threshold is just a guideline. Pass requirements differ year to year but in general if you score above 70 then you have a good chance of passing.

Good question; I thought about that too. FRA is a critical topic and worth 20% if the total exam weight; regardless of your scores in all other sections, I’m guessing it wouldn’t send a good signal to the markers in deciding whether to award a pass. Right now FRA is my biggest liability.

MPS is usually between 65%-70%. I once heard that nobody scoring higher than 70% ever failed.
