Hi All,

Can somebody tell me what is this all about. I am scheduled for an interview for this position but I have no clue what to expect. Position description doesn't entail much. It says "will be responsible for calculating and providing performance measurement reporting and risk management analysis to institutional clients"

Is it related with operations or something different? Company is one of top BB.

Thanks

There are elements of client service and analytics here... sounds ok to me.

Operations generally refers to fund accounting.

Have you tried to google your search words? "performance measurement reporting and risk management analysis client" ?

Thanks. I am looking from skill-sets point of view. I have friends working in operations so I know about operations but I have never enocountered this title.

I also used search function on this forum but I didn't get any thread directly related with this job function.

In google, I am getting lot of pages but not exactly the job requirement or what does it entails.

I would be thankful if somebody can give me insight who has either worked or familiar with this job function.

Thanks

sounds like it could be

1) Performance measurement ie Accounting

2) Performance Measurement & Attribution

sounds more like #2 b/c says risk management.

Bascially think of it like this. You have a bond mutual fund. The index is up 3% your fund is up 5%. The instituitional investors will want to know where you made your money over the index. Did pick better individual names, did you take duration bets, yield curve plays, sector country plays etc etc etc..

I would not want to this full time. I would fall asleep at my desk. But you got to start somewhere and would probably make decent dough for recent undergrad esp if for Top IB.

I prefer looking out my windshield rather then rearview mirror.

performance analyst is 100% operations...

not ideal if you want to break into analyst role, but its better than back office.

tht wd be middle office ....its measuring fund performance against benchmarks .( S&P index ..etc ) ..also attribution anslysis ..running lots of reports for IM's ..some roles also verify compliance with GIPS ..etc

Thanks for all inputs. I am getting some insight. I think I would be mostly dealing with numbers floating on spread sheets.

that's some insight you're getting there... lol

I am a kind of entry level candidate so I am not expecting to apply much logic at this stage. Based on all input I have clue that what I might have to deal with.

I am not expecting that I will be assigned to interpret the meanig of index performances. It might be at higher level but may be not the current requirement for me.
