My passport is getting renewed so I can’t register for Level 2 until that arrives in the mail. In the meantime, is there any way I can get copies of the 2012 curriculum? Maybe some sort of e-book? I do have the 2011 curriculum but it would be great to have the most recent version of the notes. Thanks.

you might be able to buy the e-books from CFAI - but you would be paying full price twice (since you will be sent either the books or the e-book when you register anyways).
I believe Econ has changed a lot, but Ethics/Quant/FSA remain identical to the current year.
so you might be able to start with those, while you wait for your passport.

Cool, sounds about what I expected to hear. Thanks CP.

compare the LOSs and the changes using the finquiz site…. and you should be able to make a more informed decision.

Yes, you can get just the books. I did that after I took the L1 exam in December 2010, was sure I passed, work was paying for it, and wanted to get a jump on L2. I just ended up not taking the exam after all anyways. However, it’s a little more pricey to go this route. If registering traditionally for L2 is $700, it will be $450 for the books alone and then $350 when you register for the exam. Maybe not those exact numbers, but you get the picture… More $$$.

Why don’t you start by studying ethics and quant? These topics are probably more or less the same.

Most on here people tend to study ethics last…

I dont seem to find the 2011 -12 curriculum changes on the finquiz website any more. CP, would you have a clue? Thanks,

Just register with your old passport id number (or a mock) to get your curriculum now. Once you receive your passport in the mail, all you’ll need to do is fill out the “Identification Information Change Request Form” which can be found under the Candidate Dashboard on the CFAI website. It only takes 7-10 days to update your info so your ticket can match your new passport id number. This way don’t have to stress about putting off studying until your passport arrives.

Thanks daviskr. I actually just got my new passport in the mail as the turn around was only about two weeks. Just registered so the books should be here by tomorrow. Can’t wait.
