Does it matter whether or not the person is referred to as John Doe, CFA or just John Doe in terms of violating a standard? Are we supposed to be differentiating between people who are cfai members and those who are not? I've been assuming that everyone in the questions should be held to the standards but is this not the case? Just want to make sure I'm not reading too far into some questions.

Thanks guys,
Erin

That's what I was trying to find out with the Ethics thread I just posted!

Def. not a stupid question, I would say :)

Always assume the characters are candidates or members. They are pretty good about always saying it to be clear.

On occassion you'll get questions about things like "john, cfa, passes mgmt to a non-cfa.. yadda yadda" In the end, it doesn't change anything in the question. It's just a red-herring.

If John Doe has their Charter, they may have John Doe, CFA on their business card, email sig, letterhead, etc.

It's not required that they do, therefore they may just call themselves John Doe.

ok so basically always hold them to at least the standards or stricter laws of operating jurisdiction. i was starting to freak out thinking i had to distinguish whether or not they needed to adhere to the standards or not....
