Myself and some colleagues are forming an investment club. I am looking for creative name suggestions and I know there are a number of witty, creative people on this board. We’ll have an opportunistic value focus. Publicly traded securities only.
Tips/traps of a private investment club if you have experience in one are appreciated also.

Hmmm. How about:
The Society of Uncreative & Dull Wanna-Be Investment Professionals Who Decided to Create a Like-Minded Group Instead of Doing Something Constructive With Our Free Time.

Do you live up to your “88” as per your username? This is the third time I am noticing this trend in your posts and how you were able to register on a public forum puzzles me.

Isn’t forming a group to share ideas and act upon it can be considered a constructive free time?

What do you expect from a neo-nazi?

^Yes, I definitely consider an investment club a constructive use of free time and a great way to strengthen and maintain your network with key people.
Mason’s post doesn’t even warrant a response, so I have ignored it. Actually I didn’t even read it all.

Neo-nazi? I remember, you’re the guy who has the absurd knowledge of symbols and crap associated with that group. Trust me; I do not fit “their” profile. I’m an educated northern minority. 88 was just a random number I chose. No meaning.
As far an investment clubs– I attended a few meetings in college and a couple last year. They are a waste of time. Everyone has their own opinions and strategies. Not a very construction use of time. I didn’t learn anything. I suggest if someone wants learn about investment strategies complete the CFA, get a master’s in investment management, be active in your society, and get an investment management job.
If you have free time left. Enjoy your life! Get a girlfriend, take a few trips abroad, or take a jog in the park—I just don’t see the point sitting around with a bunch dudes during an evening when I instead could be doing 100 things more interesting.
