Proctors resetting calculators to factory settings?

Yes they do! Good luck tomorrow fellow canuck.

what are you serious?! What about all the functions already set like BODMAS set up and number of decimal places etc?? I cant remember how to change all that!

NO THEY DON’T.
They just look at it and clear it so that you don’t have anything stored on the screen.

That’s not how it was at any test centre I was at. Full reset. Had to fix decimals and all.

REALLY?
Of course I can’t speak for all exam centers. But what they do is make sure that your calculator is one of the “approved” calculators and then they just click clear and turn it off, then hand it back to you.
Maybe it’s different for Canadian test centers vs. US? Could anybody else chime in?

It should be the same for all in fairness, but I distinctly remember reseting my decimals once the proctors had their way with my calcs. I didn’t have any fancy stuff programmed in.
I’m willing to be wrong here, but my recollection of that is pretty strong. CFAI should have a policy spelled out.

In any case you do not want to get caughts pants down, so spend some time to know how to change the settings.

FWIW, the proctors never reset my calculator. They did ask us to clear the memory, though.
Honestly, if you don’t know how to work the calculator by now, then you probably don’t deserve to pass.

Changing decimals is not something you do very often, it will not make you fail but adds a bit more stress if you do not know how to do it.

The proctor just turned our calculators on and then off to make sure the on screen didn’t say anything other than 0.
Also, someone from my test center had to borrow a calculator from the proctors because instead of a HP 12 C or TI BA, he bought an HP BA calculator… He was given the 12 C I believe and having never used RPN, I wished him good luck.
