About Valerie
My name is Valerie Cheong Took. I am a life and business coach, an intercultural trainer and a Reiki therapist.
I strongly believe in personal branding. The brand of a person is the sum of skills/talents, core values, life/working experiences, hobbies, personality traits and knowledge. Between, is it right to say “obtained my CFA” ? L1 Ethics :)
 
I believe Monk’s “concern” is the “obtained my CFA” quote. Yes, L1 Ethics material. I’m sure every charterholder had said those exact words at least once, or had even written them down. Not exactly grounds to pull someone’s charter on first (or even second or third) offense. If Monk really had the best intention for the Institute or the charter in mind, he would have perhaps sent a private email to the author. Or perhaps an informal “complaint” (more of a notice) to the Institute. I suspect his motives are elsewhere; or more likely he doesn’t even know what his motives are.
What concerns me more is a gross misunderstanding of “public domain”. Just because something can be found on the internet doesn’t make it “public domain”.
 
oh look, you found a CFA charterholder that incorrectly used it as a noun. The rule takes up 1 page out of the 2500 pages of the curriculum. There’s 2,499 more pages of the curriculum to be tested.
Would you pull someone’s charter because they forgot the FRA calculation formula? Well why not, it’s on 2 pages of the curriculum.
 
^Agreed, unless this person never obtained the charter, I don’t see anything here worth blowing the whistle over.

On a separate but related subject, is “charterholder” even a word outside of CFAI? I know Microsoft Word does not recognize it, and I often go back and forth between typing “charterholder” and “charter holder.” I’ve also considered typing “charter-holder” but that seems to draw too much attention to itself.
 
Nothing to do with Ethics.
Not doubting anything she has said.
 
I think monk sees some correlation between practicing Reiki or whatever and being bad at grading examinations.
It would be easier if monk provided us with an up-to-date list of acceptable activities for graders.
Is a grader allowed to do yoga? How about fly a plane? Climb mountains? Watch movies? Have kids? Eat pasta? I’m failing to really grab the rankings. This is probably because the program didn’t prepare me for critical thinking. Monk’s argument wins either way.
