Well i started SS9 of F&R its really boring, but i Plan to finish the Scheweser 3er book before february ends and Hopefully the last 2 on march and Have all April and May to review, I have been also doing the Scheweser Qbank averaging around 65% I think i will do better eventually. Where are you guys standing and what are your plan schedule?

just started reading 31 with elanguides, plan to finish FRA by early march. the elanguides questions are alot harder than the EOC questions so i do them atleast twice and try to correct whatever i dont understand.

I’m just started SS8 and my plan had been to finish the 3rd Schweser book sometime during the 1st week of march, but i’m not sure if that will happen. It seems like FRA & Corp Finance require more memorization so I’ve been spending more time on it.
I complete 120 questions from the QBank, if available, after each study session and split them up into groups of 40. After every 40 questions, I re-review the concepts I had struggled with. My score generally goes up slightly after each set (usually get 70-80% on the first 40 questions).
My plan so far has been to go thorugh a Schweser book every 3 weeks. In the first two weeks I read, highlight, take notes, and complete the EOC questions after each chapter. I find that the chapter summaries has really help me absorb more of the information. I spend the final week completing 120 QBank questions on every study session for that book and going back to review old QBank questions I had reviewed in the previous schweser books.
I’m starting to complete QBank questions after the completion of a study session hoping it will be more effective.. When my CFAI materials come in next week I hope to make time to complete the EOC questions in those books because I’ve heard they’re a great help in preparing for this exam..
I’m trying to stay on pace to have 6 weeks to take pratice exams and re-review material, but my initial review and note taking of every study session is very time consuming. It covers so much information so I always wonder if there would be a more efficient and effective way to review.
please share suggestions, study strategies, and progress. I would love to know.

I dont do QBanks after each study section, instead during a week a do about 100 to 120 questions but instead of the single Study Sections i Do them to the Study Section Im on, for example if im done with SS8 and im Studying SS9 I will do Qbank questions of SS1 to SS8, i feel this way i will keep refreshing what i studied from the previous Studdy Sections and i feel its even making me better in the areas i was weak before.

It looks like everyone is on track! Keep it going…I have just started on Financial Analysis Techniques (Study Session 8). I ‘m thinking I should be done with this study session and on to the next within a matter of days and complete with FRA within 2 weeks. Then I will proceed to Corporate Finance. I am doing all the Concept Checkers on Schweser and problems on the CFAI text as well.

I just finished one reading of Study Session 9, hope to finish FRA by the end of this month.

I am way behind; I am in SS5.
I initially spent few weeks relying solely on the CFA program curriculum which was a huge mistake. It slowed me down and, eventually, I decided to switch to Schweser (around the end of January)
Good luck!

I started studying the last week of December and have finished Ethics, Quant, Econ, and 3 out of the 4 study sessions in FRA.

Just finished FRA although in doing a couple Qbank tests it has been my weakest session thus far. Just about to crack open book 4 of 5 with the Schwesser notes. Been doing a Qbank test of about 50 questions after each study session and have been in the 70’s - 80’s besides econ which I crushed. Just need to drill into my mind the differences with US GAAP and IFRS for the cash flow statement.

swattty, theres is a table you can download with regards to IFRS and GAAP. its somewhere online. i just read it everyday for about an hour. it has really helped out.

Haha literally just downloaded that shit an hour ago should be super helpful

taxes werent as bad as i thought they would be. maybe its cause i came into that reading expecting it to be impossible. i had honestly had more trouble with the cash flow statements and learning the direct and indirect methods.

oh yes i downloaded the differences between IFRS and GAAP too from the website finquiz.com and dats extremely helpful, though i still hvnt memorized dem yet :( but hopefully i shud..need to finish FRA and get started with quant next.
@El89: just wanted to know where abouts in Bahrain r u located, coz i mite be there for couple f days so we can form a group to discuss sum stuff.

Comrade sweta85s, your writing is incomprehensible. Seriously, being a member of a CFA institute, you are encouraged to take some “proper English” courses and start acting professionally and ethically to reflect credit on yourself and the profession. :)

hey, are you interested in selling 50% of your ownership of Qbank, is it CD or online access? i can pay 50% of what you paid, i am a student, so i don’t have enough money to buy one on my own

The information from last 3 scheweser books is either new or unfamiliar to me. I have been reading, highlighting, and taking detailed notes hoping to absorb more of the material, but detailed note taking is slowing me down severely in the FRA schweser book so I’m considering a switch to brief notes or none at all.
Should I stop taking notes? If I do, what would be the most effective use of this available time (re-reading, more QBank, or CFAI EOC questions, etc..)?

I do the same with the notes and i feel that they are slowing me down, but they will be useful in reviewing as there’s no need to go back through the books or anything.
