I started on 2nd december with fixed income and despite interruptions in study schedule managed to study off and on. As of today i am through with fixed income and equity excluding corporate governance.I am struggling to recall stuff. A few days ago i couldn’t remember anything about contingent immunization.
I try to revise every sunday. I don’t want to spend too much time on these two topics. my plan is to finish revision of equity and fixed income including solving EOC by 26th Jan and move on to next topic.
I feel i have spent too much time on only two topics and yet recall little. What to do.Revise or move on?

So you’ve been through 3.5 study sessions in a little over 6 weeks?
I would say you probably need to pick up the pace if you’re interested in giving yourself a chance to review and take mocks/practice tests in the late spring. If you’re anything like me, you’ll learn a lot more in that phase anyway as things will really start to come together.

FOCUS FOCUS FOCUS!!
you need to really concentrate when you study and do practice questions!!
also, you need to move onto next topics quickly because you can’t dwell on 2 topics for too long, perhaps other topics are easier for you? maybe you can learn other topics quickly.
BEST OF LUCK

Yo. Youve got just shy of 6 months to get through 35 readings - keep going, attempt to review as you go, you might even finish in time to do a second read through and still have your month or two to revise. Carrots and peas man. Carrots and peas.

True. most of the material starts to come together towards the end. Anyway I will move on to new material from Mon.I do not want to be be in a situation where i don’t have time for review and more importantly mocks.

YES FOCUS. :D
No topic is easy for me. i am a slow learner , which makes it even more important that i move to the next topic asap. Thanks

I am targetting end of April for completion of study and since i try to review as i go along, i will have to devote a lesser time to review compared to if i did not review as I went along.May 10th onwards plan to do nothing but mocks and review weak areas.
Whats carrots and peas?

I am finishing up a full skim + outline of the material. I plan to start actually studying (focused reading, questions, etc.) tomorrow…and am targeting mid-April to begin final prep (review, mocks, etc.).
There is a lot of stealthy nuance across the L3 curriculum…I can see how so many people fail, especially given the test format in the AM. Of the technical material, only the currency risk mgmt and swap sections intimidate me after the first pass. That may change once I start doing questions though.
Good luck!

Wow - nicely done, Stjohns. I’m envious.
Got started at year-end. Just finished skimming Schweser Vol 2 & 3, aiming to be done with Vol 1-4-5 within the next 6 to 8 weeks. Then onto quick reviews, and practice-practice-practice. At least that’s the plan. Part of me wishes I had the time and inclination to fit in one extra layer of reading to improve rentention, but that never happened at previous levels either.
So far the material is consistent with what others have described: not terribly hard to understand — but nuanced, and understanding is a different animal than recalling, let alone explaining. Already getting nervous about the essay portion (I am decent at problem-solving but my memory sucks big time, so remembering lists of facts will be a challenge for me). But one step at a time!

Try to do as many as possible, and try practicing WRITING out the answers as you would on the exam.
because handwriting is not natural for people in 2014…
