Query on status of references

They get it immediately. You will receive an email that says when they have completed it. Also, on your application, it will show the status of the emails. I sent an email to mine saying they would receive something and they got the email from the CFA before mine so pretty quick.
bobice, I don’t remember seeing any retrack buttons when I had added references. I would recommend speaking with your boss/colleagues before you add them as a reference on the CFAI website.

I was wondering if you would be willing to serve as a professional reference for my membership application. They prefer supervisors and require multiple references ( has agreed to serve as one).
There is an online form that you would need to fill out which should only take a couple of minutes (there is one question that requires typing something instead of just clicking buttons)
This is not urgent at all and I can definitely ask someone else.

I sent references of my 2 current bosses and one ex boss. they get the mail immediately. They have to answer a few questions 4 or 5 i think. you can check status by logging in to your account.
Both my bosses finished in a day or two.The third reference, my ex boss wasn’t too keen i felt. So i changed the reference. you can change your reference by clicking on edit against the reference. Over write the previous reference details and click on resend email. a mail will be sent to the new email. The resending of email to the new reference does ot happen automatically. Dont forget to click on resend email.
references which have already been completed cannot be edited but the ones which are not are definitely editable.
I did this and got my work ex approved by CFAI and local society within a week or so.
Now passing Level III is all that remains
