Questions regarding the research process

A couple of questions I thought of as I was researching into the equity research process

-Does everyone uses the same approach in term of financial analysis?
-Does everyone in the buy-side firm uses a modeling "template"?

And we come to same answer. That's why the markets are so efficient!
 
If someone does not use the same approach, model, or assumption, then it's likely they have inside information. All trading based on insider information is prosecuted and no one ever gets away with it. As Joey will agree, insider trading is very bad and we should all be thankful the US has these laws.
