Hello I have 2 questions about the membership application:
1. When filing the application I had to choose also the local CFA Society and was not able to not fill in any, even though I don’t want to apply to the local but only to the CFAI.
Now when I enter the application page it shows me 2 applications running.
Can someone explain if I applied for both as I didn’t want that?
2. When I can I use the CFA designation? As soon as my application is approved, or do I have to wait until I receive the charter?

I am not Sure as I simply went ahead and joined the local society but I believe you have the Option to only join and pay the dues to the Institute.
You will receive an email stating that you are approved and shortly after that you will see the CFA after your Name when you Log in. This all is after playing the fees.

you have to apply to a society… you don’t have to be a member of the society, but you do have to apply to one. You have two applications pending… you applied for membership at CFAI and a local society. It does not matter if you wanted to or not… if you want to use those precious letters, you have to apply for both.

you can use the designation after both of you applications have been approved, you have paid your membership dues to CFAI, and your name shows up in the membership directory with ” , CFA” at the end of it.
