FSA!!!!!!!!!! damnnnnn i cant wait for me to finish this study session, anyone else taking a really long time to get through it?!?!?

I agree that it's boring but it is no pain. I dislike Schweser's chapter on CF statement - it is somewhat oddly written.

You guys better start liking it, u will get hit with twice as hard on level two.

get the whole book "FInancial Shenanigans"

I just finished reading it, large print........clearly written, makes accounting seen fun. Might and prob will be a fleeting feeling though.

It does take a while and this is the 2nd time I've gone through it and it still does get heavy...I believe its not in the material though, its in the level of detail required for the exam.
I will through it again in April doing book 6 problems and pick up more "skin rather than bones" if ya know what I mean...

Nowhere near the most boring. Clearly you haven't done ethics yet.

Two of the most boring things to study in the world, Ethics and FSA, are worth the most on the Level I exam. These topics are worst than Modern Physics to study.

agree with Jeff, buy the book, "Accounting Shenanigans". Plug for Schilit, who gave me a copy. Gave me the desire to want to sleuth my way through documents.

im taking unbelivably long for FSA myself. Its been almost a month since ive been doing it. I feel like its just me whos taking that long....makes me wanna give up..boo hooo.....

still in the second studdy session of fsa, and i would read 10,000 pages of ethics to pass the fsa section- im a principal and am studying for the sales supervision license series 9/10

FSA isn't boring for me because I see it as this. When I am a research analyst, how in the world am I supposed to know if the management of the company is engaged in window dressing? Well, FSA gives you the tools to lift the skirt, so to speak, and see if it's really a girl.

SS 10 - including Income Taxes has to be the most painful topic area. I am considering not taking the exam just to avoid having to learn it. I understand the exam will throw as many as 5-7 income tax questions at you, so it is essential to know it inside and out.

Shoulda been a lawyer...

deferred taxes arent that hard, you need to find a HUMAN to teach it to you, it's just basic math, the book BLOWS that you're using. spin by an acct prof at a community college, he'd probably help you for 20 minutes and clarify alot for ya.

Ethics isn't that bad.. just focus on practice questions for that section..
Gotta Agree with doug1022 - I've probably gone through Income taxes at least 2x..
and I still have no freakin clue whats going on....
Thanks for pointing that out JeffJ21 - a good buddy of mine is a CA.. i'll have to get him to explain it to me....

Whats the Best topic?
The Asset Valuation has to be the most interesting part of the CFA Curriculum...
PM is interesting too if your in that field... but its not even worth reading for the 5% its worth on the exam...

FSA is pretty straight forward if you get your hooks into it. The Liabilities is the most complex stuff here, the assest analysis is pretty straight forward and the basic stuff including the EPS, ratios, revenue recognition and CF aren't that bad here, but you have to pay attention.

I would say the most boring stuff period is efficient market hyp. (way too academically presented) I almost fell asleep on that

I think weak, semi-strong, strong forms of tests are very stupid classification

Yep, FSA blows. I've spent a little over a month on it and hope to be done with it in a few days. I had to read through a lot of it twice just to get that stuff into my brain.

I never thought I'd be excited to move onto Econ. How bad is Econ?

alot of econ is such nonsense, you'll see when you get to all the marcro theories. about 20% of it is worth knowing in my opinion. Than micro is a headache with their reading on indifference curves. The global econ section is cool though.
