Hi Guys,

I have appeared twice for CFA L 1 and have not been successful in clearing the exams. I am re-accessing my decision to go for third attempt. I want you guys to help me out for the same. Here are my scores for L1 Dec. 2005 exams. I guess I have to score above >70% in all the subjects to gain a chance to pass the exam.

I had used Schweser Notes 2005, Schweser CD Pro 2005 as Test Bank.

Multiple Choice Q# Topic Max Pts <=50% 51%-70% >70%

I recommend you to answer only mock exams and q banks. I believe you know the 95% of the subjects so you need to know the question in the exam.

Hi Michael,

How much study time did you put into studying for the exam? If you haven't been diligent in your studies, then you know what the problem is...

How was your performance doing the Schweser exam problems? If you've been doing the HW problems diligently on the CD and have scored very well on them, and have attended all the classes, you may be able to convince Schweser to let you retake the review course for free (I know this is the case with Stalla).

Did you spend time doing exam type problems and mock exams in "simulated" exam conditions? Doing this helps you build "stamina" and "endurance" for the real exam. If you don't do this, you may run into time management and endurance problems during the real exam, which would tend to lower your performance (i.e. leaving questions blank, or simply rushing through them and getting them wrong). My Stalla instructor always emphasizes the importance of working exam type problems and mock exams in simulated exam conditions.

Finally, what are your study habits like? I used to study with the TV or the radio on all the time to "keep me company". This is a very bad habit. Even with the TV and radio off, I can't seem to study much at home, with the kids running around, and with things to do around the house, etc. The Internet is also bad when studying; instead of studying sometimes, I surf. I find it best to study in complete silence in a library away from all the usual distractions.

Dude...do you mean reASSESSING the decision?

Reaccessing is not a word.

well if you had access to something.. couldn't you re-access it?

Hi,

That was a wrong word included in haste. The word should have been 'Re-assessing'..

Thanks for all your help guys!

Michael

michael, you arent that far off from passing - if i were you, i would get my hands on as many problems as i could and do as many as you can handle

Well you don't really need to focus on PM or Quant..

Focus on your areas of weakness!
You need to spend time learning Economics, FI and try to master FSA...
Bring those up a little bit.. and you should be able to pass...
Do lots of Questions! but before you do make sure you've covered your areas of weakness...

when do you plan to write.. b/c if your not writing till December.. maybe pick up the books and go through the assigned readings.. I'm sure you know a lot as it is.. but the assigned readings will give you more examples etc...
Good Luck!!!
