As compared to level I, Level II is quit hard in terms of in-depth understanding and getting mastery of the concepts. To cope this problem of building my understanding and retaining level, I have made a blog where I post my version of the topics - how I have understood them and what areas I have found interesting and difficult while preparing for Level II. It has really nourished my retention and recalling abilities. I think you should also try this in order to grasp the broader base of Level II.
