For those return calculation that requires us to use:

PMT
FV
When you write down your inputs to get credit, does it matter what sign you make the PV or FV?
To me, as long as PV or FV is negative (along with the correct sign for PMT), i haven’t paid too much attention to this, but wondering if I should?
It is really about perspective. I start with $1m portfolio, so it should be positive, or I deposit $1m into the bank, so it should be negative….. But gotta do this the CFA way.
