I'm looking at buying the Schweser audio, and am looking at buying someone's old CD's from 2004. How applicable are those.... have they changed at all in the past 2 years?

Don't pay too much for it...it's pretty brutal to listen to. I have the 2006 version and only use it for ethics...the 2004 version will lack GIPS and Corp. Governance which is important so just keep that in mind. For some of the topics you can imagine how ridiculous it is to try and listen to the explanation without any visual assistance. Honestly, I commute pretty far to work and I just listen to the ethics over and over because after trying to listen to the calculation intensive sessions I realized it wasn't really helping that much.

Agreed, it is pretty horrible to listen to. And besides that, I don't think it adds anything that reading the material doesn't. The speaker is either reading directly out of the notes, or a script that is very similar to the notes. I was hoping that the recording would have some additional (interesting) anecdotes so that the candidate could approach the material from a different angle, but unfortunately, no.
