Has anyone else who used Schweser for Level I decided to not use it for Level II? I’ve heard that it is better to stick to CFA books after Level I.

I was going to use solely the CFA books for l2 after doing l1 with schweser. I started and by about 10 pages in was zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
So I bit the bullet and got the Schweser books for L2. Cuts straight to the point without all the waffle that sometimes CFA books have.
TBH though, I know I’m shooting myself in the foot by not reading from the core curriculum, especially for L2 which is a big jump up. Oh well, that’s the risk i’m taking!

Level II is challenging compared to Level I.
If you’re not bright or you don’t put in enough hours, you’re likely to fail L2 no matter what materials you use.
I don’t think there is anything magical about the CFAI books. They certainly contain 2x more words than the alternatives though.

After going through Equity, AI, and half of CF from the CFAI textbook, I can say that half of the readable material is just filling. I just got Schweser and the difference in study time and recollection is huge.
I was a proponent for CFAI books when I started, now I don’t think so anymore. They are best used for reference, but not passing the exam.

so now you switched to solely use Schweser Notes? I studied Equity, PM, CF and Economics with the CFAI textbook but used Schweser Notes when studying Quant. I don’t have any problem with the textbook except that they have more pages and take much more time to read.
Personally, so far I find studying for level 2 is more relaxing than level 1. The knowledge covered in level 2 books are more concentrated instead of being broad as that n level 1 books.
