So now that you’ve taken the exam what do you think about schweser for level 3? What products did you use and was it worth it?

Too early to brag in here and ask for feedback.. Once results are out maybe you can ask them :-)

It covers most of the material but definitely could be better.
I took a writing prep course where they proctored old exams. One essay covered economic indicators, I said to myself, “no way is this in the curriculum.” Opened up CFAI books and there they were. Along with other minimal things. Of the 3 levels you definitely need cfai, or need to supplement w cfai the most

Gotcha so schweser was ok for learning the bigger topics but not the finer details. Did you use their video products at all or just the books?

I would say that Schwesers does a pretty decent job as far as study materials go but their AM mocks suck big time. I practised thru all 6 mocks and consistently scored 65%, but once took CFAI mocks, realised that the real deal was far demanding than the Schwesers.
It was late and I could only practice 2014 and 2013 and realized the loss of not practising thru the real deal. It is too late. I dont blame schwesers, I know that time management was always an issue for me. I do not believe that I made it this time. But I think I knowwhat to do, should there be a next time for me.
No complaints.

I passed the 2012 exams and used Schweser books exclusively. I could attempt the first 160 minutes in the AM session at the exam and in my opinion, Schweser covered all the concepts of the questions I had attempted. I do not remember how good Schweser covered the PM session of the exam.
If you are time starved for preparing for the exam, say for e.g. if you feel you will get less than 250 hours for studying, then Schweser books along with atleast Volume 1 of the Practice exams should be sufficient.
I found the CFAI books very lenghty. I used them only to understand those concept which I had not understood from Schweser which was very minimal actually.

Schweser is fine for some people, particularly if you’re pressed for time. I think they covered the vast majority of stuff that showed up on the exam for Level III. Probably not in great detail, though.
One note; I don’t know why someone would waste their time doing Schweser AM mocks. The real thing is available to you. If you’re pressed for time, by no means should you spend 3 hours doing a Schweser AM mock (and 3-5 hours reviewing it). Do the old CFA AM exams instead. No question about it.
Using Schweser Notes and old CFA AM exams is probably a viable strategy if you’re pressed for time.
The old CFA AM exams are the most important part of Level III prep, assuming you’ve already covered the material. Reviewing old CFAI guideline answers on those exams is a great tool, too.

One good reason to use Schweser AM & PM Mock exams would be to have a complete exam experience.
For starters, it will be difficult to time yourself using past AM actual exams, if there are some questions which are no longer in the syllabus. Atleast, the behavioural finance portion changes frequently I’ve noticed and 1 question of behavioural finance is almost always asked in AM session.
Also using past actual AM with Schweser or CFAI Mock PM would not be a good idea since the mix of questions in AM and PM may not be balanced if one wants the proper exam simulation. I would think that each set of Schweser AM & PM exam would be balanced to cover all topics.
Ofcourse, the actual AM papers and CFAI Mocks reflect the true difficulty of the exams and should be definitely studied. But they are not good exam simulators
