Hi,
Sorry hate to be that guy that wants to talk about mock exam results etc but was just curious how everyone else found the Schwser Mock Vol 1 Exam 1.
I scored AM: 69% PM: 70%
I have found even with Q bank and mocks that I seem to plateu at around 70% mark. Weird how I can’t get over that hurdle.
I would normally be quite happy with this result, but I failed Band 9 in December and got 70% in the Fitch and Schwser Mock 1 mock so not that ecstatic right now…
Any Advice?
Sorry for the negativity.

I haven’t seen the results of my group’s strategy yet, but we just started doing Qbank mocks and are scoring 68-72 as well. As we go through the exams, we each personally compile a list of topics that we don’t remember with complete clarity. Every 3rd study day is 3 hours of review, based on the items on that list.
I think that using this strategy, it’s likely to see approx a 2.5% increase in average mark each week, possibly front-loaded.

It is a strange phenomena and I had similar experiences to you at level one. I did all the Schweser mocks and the CFA mocks and I always plateaued at similar score, sometimes 69%, sometimes 70% or 71% and if I was lucky 72%. In the exam I was lucky enough to pass so I guess in your situation there were not many points seperating you from the Minimum Passing Score.
My advice keep going with mocks

The exam covers a lot of material and is not easy, so toward the end of your studies you probably will see dominishing returns (in terms of points on mocks) to your study hours; 100 hours of incremental study time may take you from 60% to 70%, but 100 hours of extra study time may only take you from 70% to 75%. I experienced that last year. That is common.
Keep in mind that its common to forget material as time passes. If you don’t study at all for the next two weeks, you may go from 70% to 65% so while it’s tough to get up in score there is value to the hours you invest do have value even if you’re stuck at ~70%.
The most important thing about mock exams a month before the exam isn’t your cummulative score, but identifying weak areas. Identify what sections you’re doing worst in and invest your study hours there. That’s where you’re going to gain points. Keep in mind that topic weighting is important; if you’re getting 50% in Derivatives (low weight) and FRA (high weight), obviously invest your hours in the highest weight.

AM: 80%
PM: 78%
But I’m not too happy about it, really.

After a lot of hard work and around 400 hours of study time I still manage to do every fifth question wrong… and I also know that level II won´t be as forgiving as level I is…

surprising thing is that my worst area is ethics, guess that common sense just isn’t enough, so I plan to read it these days… :)

Ethics is the hardest part of the exam man!

By Schweser Mock exam you mean the practice exam, right? My scores are 81% and 77% but I’m worried that I’ll be quite busy at work during the whole May and I am not sure how much time I’ll have to study. Besides as far as I know Schweser is easier than the real exam.

Pff! I reach the 70% consistenly with Schweser.
Today my local society organised a Mock from the BSAS.
Guess what? Not even 60%!
Still at a loss! How the heck did I perform so bad?

Just did Schweser Exam 1 AM Mock, received an 81%. Ironically enough Econ was my worst section. I was Econ as undergrad – go figure.
I’ll take a CFAI mock tomorrow as I’ve heard these are generally closer in difficulty to the real exam. How much of a drop off do people generally see when comparing Schewser mocks to CFAI mocks?
