I know this has been asked countless times at other Levels, however, I wanted to gauge whether CFA Charterholders and those who have Passed Level III believe that it is actually necessary to read the curriculum for Level III.
To put this in context, I did not crack the CFAI Curriculum whatsoever for Level I and Level II. For Level I, I scored >70% in all 10 Topics. For Level II, I scored >70% in 9 Topics and >50% in 1 Topic.
I know the format is different so I wanted to ask your opinion.

If you scored that high, I can assume that you have a huge finance background. Schweser would be fine for you sir. As long as you are comfortable with it and you can score on CFAi EOCs, then you don’t need to change your strategy.
I’ve used the Schweser notes for Level 1 and I’ve felt that it is not enough. So I’ve used the CFAi for Level 2. It demanded me a very huge time to cover those thick books so for level 3, I have now decided to use again the Schweser. So I would have time for myself and enjoy life.

I did not read the official curriculum for any of the three levels. I read SchweserNotes 1.5x and just drilled EOCs and mocks.
Level III was the closest call for me, and I can imagine that reading the official curriculum likely would’ve been beneficial – but given your performance on Level I and II (way better than I did), I’d say it probably isn’t necessary for you.
Just one guy’s opinion!
