Which study notes do people prefer, and why? Also how is Pass Pro compared to Stalla and Schweser's online components?

After talkin to a few people online and in person, i have come to the conclusion that the stalla notes are the best and the easiest to study with.

If you want to increase your chances of passing the L1: Order the study notes from stalla which will cost you $300 and the practice exams from pass pro for $150.

You should be to study from the stalla notes without trouble if you have "some" financial background.

If your new in the field, order everything that AIMR wants you to. Pass Pro notes and Schweiser notes are crap.

Check out my thread "Some Lessons Learned" and there is an older one by RobRob that may prove useful.

I've used both Schweser and Stalla and I would go with Schweser with the following provisos:

A. End of chapter questions are fluff.
B. Make sure you download their Errata sheets because there are quite a few errors.
C. SchweserOnline questions are tough...very tough...and don't resemble actual exam questions so you may waste some time there.
D. Get the JKE exams for practice.

And, make sure you practice practice practice!

Guys,

Is Schweser really that bad? In Japan, most people I see who study CFA takes the Schweser? Maybe the Stalla votees are bias caz they already familiar with this books versus Schweser?

For example, some people say they like Stalla website better, BUT i really think Schweser's website is nicer than Stalla's. There is less information on Stalla website.

Thanks for reading this.

on this forum, seems like most people favor schweser over stalla. doesn't actually seem like many people use stalla based on these posts.

are there sample stalla notes online?

Hi

I got this very interesting link from a friend which gives an idea that schweser is better than stalla.

See for yourself.

I don know y it didnt print:

Its ********* instead of stars.

Thanks

I read the texts and used Schweser study notes to supplement. I found them useful b/c they helped put some FSA in plain English. I also recommend the JKE exam book from Schweser. I think those exams were most realistic relative to the real deal this past June. I passed

Beppon:

can u tell me what JKE stands for? (running out of time, panick button help help, insane, lunatic)

That is my present frame of mind right now.

I used the stalla notes and I felt they were straight forward.. One thing I liked about it, is that whenever they were discussing an accounting concept, or any sort of formula they had an example that made sense and was easy to understand. I used the Schweser notes back in 2002, and I didn't think they were anything special. I'm a Stalla user until I'm done now.

I'm using Stalla notes for L1 and I find them to be very straight forward and easy to follow. I just wish they put the relevant "in class" problems at the end of each sub-section rather than at the end of the entire study section, which they do in no particular order. I tend to do better studying in short bursts and like to reinforce the concepts with examples asap. Also, it looks like Stalla has less resale value on ebay than Schweser, which was good for me and is good for other potential buyers.

I'm going with Stalla notes, SchweserPro, Schweser Palm format flashcards, and the ethics textbook. It appears to me that I have everything I need to pass, as long as I put enough "quality" time in.

You'll do fine with either schweser or stalla.
One of the silliest threads in forums like this is always "my notes are better than your notes".

If you have a specific reason for using one over the other (like your coworkers are using one and you want to study together, or there happens to be a seminar particularly convenient to you that you want to attend [although not that many golks attend the
seminars which are pretty expensive]), then the choice is made for you.

Otherwise, there really isn't much in it.

Ok.. I took a look at your analysis and it's for level 3 software, and it's last year. I don't know about schweser, but the Passmaster 2004 version has about 2700 questions to do on Level 1. If you are going to bring up analysis between software, at least use the same level.

Hi all

According to CFALevelIICanNY there are 2700 questions to practice in Passmaster 2004 LEVEL1 but in Schweser there are more than 4000 questions.I think with schweser you can practice more.

I THINK THIS IS SAME LEVEL ANALYSIS.
