So are you guys finding Schweser QBank useful in your prep? If so, how are you using it? Is it worth the $s?

I think so. It helps to grind in the concepts. Also, when you feel that you are prepared, you can take topic exams-which I find most useful. But, as everything else, it’s up to the individual’s style.

mine are sitting wrapped in the original cd case, I am planning on getting my schewser notes quick read done and then use Qbank and EOC cds to study the material and see what I remember from the readings, chances are not much but hoping EOC and Qbank will help hammer the concepts home!

For all 3 levels I have used the Qbank the same way - going through the curriculum one LOS at a time, while reading schweser notes, doing the LOS questions, then the reading questions and study session questions. Then doing the EOC q’s from Schweser and CFA.
For L1 - I used it all the way through prep.
For L2 - I used it up until I started review, then just did the odd quiz out of it - didn’t use it at all the last month prior to exam.
For L3 - so far, have gone through about 80% of curriculum and have answered about 50-60% of the qbank q’s, but I find the “short answer” type questions on it lousy. I stopped doing the study session quizzes because of these. I expect to stop using it in about 2 weeks, except for maybe the odd quiz as I go through my review.
For me, Q bank is still important in my study plan, but not as crucial as in L1.

in my experience Q-bank is very relevant for Level I, less relevant for Level II and practically useless for Level III.

I disagree on it being useless…I would agree its not the best in the world, but for me questions are the best way to drill home the concepts and test my recall
Q-bank pre-May has always been a big help because there are only so many sample exams you can take

I think Q-bank is invaluable, even at L3. For me the afternoon session got me through after a disastrous morning (2008). I am sure that even though Q-bank is in a different format it really helps in the multi-choice exam.
I used Q-bank pretty much every day, but in a relaxed way. Like sitting in front of the TV and doing a bit of Q-bank at the same time. Nothing intense, but answering thousands of questions (and reading the answer immediately after answering each question) definitely helps to get the concepts into your head.

Great point, I always make sure to read the answer after I get questions wrong, then read the wrong answers again after full quiz is done
What scores are you all generally getting?
What level of questions?

I found Q-bank somewhat useful for L3 because it allowed me to keep grinding through the material at times when I just didn’t have the energy for anything more strenuous (like EOC questions for example). It was helpful just to keep the material in front of me at times when I was pretty much wiped out.
It’s good to do as many ?’s as you can get a hold of, but Q-bank ranks at the bottom in terms of question quality. Still, it has its place and was helpful when used sparingly for L3. NEVER, EVER try to substitute the EOC questions or practice essays w/ Q-bank though…

I’m finding Q bank on level 3 more frustrating than past levels due to increased subjectivity. Also, it now actually has “questions” that just let you pick blank answers (a or b) and ask you to “discuss topic xzy” with no explanation. About as useful as reading an LOS sentence with no answer. Amazingly it appears to even factor into your score (if you pick blank answer choice b).

yeah, this is really frustrating. i don’t understand why they put these questions in there, other than to give you a feel for the format.

How do you compare the QBank to Practice Exam? I never used QBank previously, and wonder whether I should go for it this year. So far, I am using practice exam, and wonder which is a better use of the limited time. Thanks for your inputs in advance.

Hmm… Practice Exams are CLEARLY better. QBank is just a way to pound in the material. I also agree w/ most of the people here that not all the questions seem to have Black/white answers.
I am getting around 75-80% right on a pretty consistent basis. I felt good over 80% on both of the first two exams, but honestly I do not see Qbank correlating as well with real scores. On both sides of the equation too.
I am definitely glad I have it because liek that person who mentioned the TV, i tend to use it when i am watching something/doing something else. Great way to multi-task. I still hope to get myself in the 80-85% range before the exam because why not!
I am actualyl about to phase myself back into a pass of the real books and EOC questions, so probably will lay off qbank for the next month and pick it up again before I take osme real Mock’s

I found QBank to be very useful last year for L3, had never used it before. As others have noted, it is by no means a substitute for EOCs or Institute practice exams, but it can be very helpful at identifying problem areas and helping to eliminate them. A lot of the questions do suck, but at least they are on topic and different than the EOCs. There were a couple of topics that I had trouble with and I had done the EOCs so many times that I knew the answers without actually understanding the underlying concept.
