I hear the Schweser videos are good for advice on developing strong constructed response answers?
Can anyone confirm?
If so, I may purchase these for next year….

I would do those, coupled with downloading all prior CFAI essay AM sections, so that you get a feel for how a perfect answer should read.

Videos helped me as they show the big picture. Understanding the big picture is something important for L3
However *by far* most important is solving as manny essays as possible ond even resolving them
 
interesting, I didn’t find the schweser videos to be that useful for level 2 as I tend to learn better from reading and doing questions as opposed to listening
if they help with the big picture and structuring responses then the level 3 vids might be quite useful.
 
Please watch the video on atleast the IPS part from Schweser. It was done by Heatherington and was fantastic..
But well, that was not enough to push me past band 10 this time! As everyone has said, learning is do as many essay problems as you possibly can!
 
I need to focus on bettter constructed response answers and answering the questions directly and understanding exactly what they are looking for in an answer.
If it means completeing as many essay mocks as possible, then that will be the way to go.

i am debating myself whether i will need the final review pack hmmmm
 
Schweser vids are good. But the real key (as many have said) is writing out your answers and then checking them for correctness. It’s a strange skill, and takes time to learn. It’s easy to read the question, think of an answer in your head, and then view the correct answer and think you know it. Once you start trying to actually WRITE THEM OUT, you see it’s not that easy.

I think that is a skill i need to develop. I think I know the material well, however WRITING OUT THE ANSWERS and taking the time to pause and exactly understand what they are looking is key to success in the AM section…I need to practice, practice, practice writing out my answers for the AM session and not write too much and provide an answer to something they are not asking…

I don’t know if the videos are particularly good at providing “constructed response answers” but they are good for understanding the topics from top down approach.
I even go watch the lectures first sometimes if i am not particularly strong in say, commoditities, and having someone show me the simple examples and formulas i gain more confident reading the books after.
It’s particularly helpful in some sections like performance evaluations sections toward the end (before GIPS).
 
Videos are hit or miss. Heatherington and Marc were good, but watch out for Greg “I’ll just read the slides” Filbeck. If you see him on the lecture, just go ahead and shut it down for the night and read your notes again.
 
I would recommend the weekly online class with Marc (make sure you ask if he is still teaching this year). He was simply amazing! He used the slides from Schweser but he actually pointed out which blue boxes to read, which EOC questions to focus on and he made frequent reference to the actual textbook. He tried really hard to make the lecture interesting and offerred many useful study advice.
I actually went for the three day review class and the instructor was Greg. I think, he was a lot better teaching in person than recording. He summarized the points well and very concisely although I wish he could have gone over more practice questions in class rather than explaining concepts again. But overall I had a great experience.

I assume you are referring to Mark LeFebvre? From what I hear, he is the best of the best.
Lets hope he does the Level III videos next year. Fingers crossed….
 
Guys has any of you taken the schweser final review pack with final reviwe pack that contains exam demo online/on demand classes?
I am wondering is it worth paying additional 360 bucks (gulp) for that final reviwe pack.

If LeFebvre is doing it again this year, it would be a no-brainer to purchase the Weekly classes IMO. I actually re-watched every class a couple weeks before exam day this year and felt that it helped allot. He’s one of the best when it comes to simplifying some of the complexities within the curriculum. That said, if Hetherington is also doing a class (last yr he did the London standard time class, both were available to view) I would suggest watching his classes on ethics, gips and IPS - he’s very good at explaining some of that dry, granular material.
As it relates to the comments on writing out problems/answers, LeFebvre goes through a TON of problems where you work on a problem yourself then work through it with him. This helped me nail down a bunch of concepts I was having trouble with.

doesn’t matter because you can always watch archive.
I actually never watch live ones.

I don’t think it did last year, as both classes were archived and available for viewing.
 
does jon bone feature in the level 3 vids? i watched a few fra level 2 vids and he was terrible. the american guy that covered a few other fra topics was a lot better
