Schweser vs ELAN - which is better

Hi Everyone,
Great forum by the way. so i’m taking the exam in June, now in order to prepare the best way possible i planned on buying the Schweser 16-week course ($999). Somebody recently mentioned I should reconsider and go with ELAN instead.
Which is better overall?….or is there one which is better for just the flashcards,study notes or videos? and is there another service provider which beats both (i.e 7city learning).
By the way apart from a degree in Commerce and Business Mgmt i’m fairly new to this area, hence why i thought the Schweser 16 week would get me about fully prepared.

There is a topic on this already in this forum. You can search it. From what I hear Schweser has better instructional video, but Elan has better notes(Elan do have descent video, just tends to be draggy). Both have good final review guide but I’m hearing Elan’s 11th hour is better than Secret sauce. Qbank offers many practice questions but so does Elan but not as much. With Schweser, you can directly ask question to instructors though on-line chat, but Elan doesn’t offer any interactive on-line stuff. One huge difference is price with Elan being almost 50% cheaper but offers equally or better product than Schweser. Schweser do provide better interactive learning environment through video and interaction with instructors though. It’s tough cookie to decide. Oh you can customer order for Elan btw, meaning you can order their notes only if you want or practice questions only.

I’ve been recommending Elan since day one, but now that I know I passed… ELAN YOU F**KING ROCK!!!!
 
I used Schweser. I passed with only Ethics in the 50-70 range. Take from that what you will.
 
I used Elan. Very happy with them but it might be a personal preference.
Check out their samples then make the call. It’s not rocket science.
 
Elans practice questions and mock exam questions were very close to the CFA test questions as far as dificulty and style. This is definitely a huge plus for Elan.
 
Schweser hands down. You can use it all the way through unlike Elan. Continuity is worth something to me at least.
 
Elan will have L2 for 2012, and some material for L2 2011..at least that’s what they said.
I’d say Elan, because it’s cheaper and obviously has about the same sized fan base as Schweser anyway, why pay more for the same result??? In L2 if there is no ELan in time then you can just choose Schweser.
 
i was trying to purchase Elan 11hour guide, their website is not that great, i can not even sign in and put orders, since the website seems freeze out all the time, and no quick customer services. Anybody know why?
 
I used only Schweser (except on Ethics I read the actual CFAI test which I think was MUCH better than Schweser) and passed on my first attempt. I know multiple people who have done the same using only Schweser.
 
I hear Notes are better in Elan, while questions are better in Schweser. I found a 20% discount code for Elan…. this might be useful: 85846283
