Selling/buying currency

So when you are paying foreign currency (e.g. an importer), you have a short position and so should buy the forward contract.
1. Am I correct in saying that this is a contract to sell the domestic currency and buy the foreign currency?
2. Does selling the currency mean the same thing as delivering the currency?
