Series 86/87

For those of you that have taken them - how difficult are the series 86/87 tests? How much studying was required?

What levels of the CFA have to be passed to be waived for both of them?

If you pass level 2, then you can waive one of them - not sure if it's the 86 or 87 though.

A L2 pass will opt you out of the Series 86. I took both and passed. I studied approximately 10 hours, tops, for both of them. I thought they were even easier than the Series 7. None of the tests are "difficult," the problem lies in the vast amount of material that is being covered, and the level of memorization that must be mastered re: regulations, etc.

87 is really boring...it's comparable to the 63 in boredom factor with all the regulation stuff (studied 15 hours). I'm studying for the 86 now and it reminds me of the CFA level I, toned down in difficulty and depth by 80%.
