I've been working in economic and financial consulting for almost two years (first job out of undergrad). Finance undergrad, plenty of Excel skills, awaiting CFA Level 1 results.
I may be making a switch this fall to institutional investment management. I've been promoted twice at my firm over these two years (somewhat accelerated, it usually takes people three years out of undergrad for two promotions). I would be a third-year hire if I stayed in my industry. What can I expect if I make this switch to finance? Second year analyst? First year analyst?
In other words, I'm curious to how much people think that I would be set-back for not working in finance the last two years.
