Should I go for Level 2 3rd time ?

Hello Friends,
In June 2013 I cleared CFA level 1 in first try.
In June 2014 I failed with 5th band.
And this year got 9th band and failed :(
So, Should I go for third tym Or Should I quit ?

Yeah at least you improved. You were probably less than 10 questions away from passing. One more go through the material and you should be able to get through.
 
My level 2 went from band 5 to band 10 to pass. Though that third time, I was thinking of calling it quits if I hadn’t passed.
 
Go for it again. I failed band 9, then passed the next year. I can say that my level of preparedness the second time around was much more thorough than the first pass. The key will be to slog through it all again, but concentrate more on the practice and less on the review. If you do tons of practice problems and mocks from multiple prep providers, I think you’ll be fine. Good luck!
 
Go for it. Not to be discouraging though but L3 is harder. Biggest misconception is that L2 is the hardest. No way imo. L2 pales in comparison to L3, but again, that’s just my opinion.
 
It really depends on your goals and where you are in your life and career. If you have family and kids it is a different story (remember you have a short window to enjoy your family accompany). But if you are single and you have no better use of your time, and you had a clear reason why you wanted to take CFA at first place, then I would strongly recommend you to give it another shot.

This is my journey on Level 2:
2013: Band 5
2014: Band 10 ***this really hurt knowing I was only a few questions away.
2015: Pass!
So if an average Joe like me can do it on the 3rd go…why not you?

I am deciding to go for it with some improved strategies…
 
My Level 2 experience was:
2013: Band 10;
2014: Band 7 (too much non-CFA stuff was going on in May); and
2015: Pass
Not sure if I would have tried a fourth time, but I made a much bigger effort on the third attempt (focused on lots of practice questions/mock exams and learning from mistakes).

I like this post, very level headed view of what’s important. If you’ve got little kids and you spend 300 hours studying that is 300 hours less with your kids that you won’t get back. Unless you need it for your career it might not be worth it. But if you don’t have a family and have the time then I feel like it’s hard to walk away knowing you’ve already learned all of the concepts, you just need to refine what you already know so I’d give it another shot.
I’ve decided to give it a third try as well (band 9 two years in a row). After I got the fail email I thought there is no way I am going to do this again, but now I think I am still a couple years away from having kids and I’ve already put in so much time and money into this that I have to give it one more shot or I may regret it later in life. I know someone that took level 2 four times before passing then passed level 3 on their first try. That is my biggest fear is that even if I pass level 2 this time around I will spend another 2 or 3 years on level 3 and by then I will have kids and not want to complete it
My biggest change this year is I’m going to review the material weekly starting in September and then in January I am going straight into mocks. I will literally do 20 of them and do every BB and EOC 5 times over if I have to
 
Thanks for sharing your strategies with me and yes I will give one more shot dont want to regret about it later in life.
P.S. I dont have kids and I am single :P So will go for it one more time and will crack this time..!!
 
Don’t let CFA get in the way of marriage and having a kid. No test is worth that.

I think the most difficult part is not to retake and go through the study&exam process all over again. The most difficult part is how to handle your feeling when fail again. Repeated failures on the same thing can destroy a person, mentally. But if you really want it and fail the exam again will not make you think less of yourself, then just for it.
