Should I take FRM?

I have a bachelor degree in Computer Engineering and have a year of experience in asset mgt and risk mgt. I just took L2 CFA exam in June 2011 and will start my MSc Investment Management in London this September. I’m not an EU citizen but I intend to find an asset mgt job in the UK after graduation. Would taking FRM this November will be a good idea? Will it give me an edge in the job market?

Even if it doesnt give you an edge, it wont hurt…
 
Why not? If you want a risk management job in the UK, then definitely go for it provided you have enough time to prepare.
 
Actually I prefer to pursue a career in asset management, but I’m desperate to get a job in the UK. I believe I can find enough time to study for the exam. However, $1000 (and more for study materials) is a huge investment for me. Do you think it worths the price?

You cant put a price on education.
Actually, you can, but it will be worth a lot more than $1000. It might make the difference between landing that one job, or making that extra small step in your career. And the extra pay you receive from even a small step will be a lot more than $1000.
 
I am a Chartered Accountant and working in a Bank as Internal Auditor. I asked my boss to put me on Treasury Audits…. But he said for that you have to start something like CFA or FRM.. Could you please suggest me which one should I go for….? I would really appreciate ur support…
 
ravikumar.acca: you are hijacking a thread, maybe make your own in the future.
But if you want something quickly and can choose between CFA and FRM than the answer would be FRM.
You can do both exams in a year since it is examined twice a year, while CFA will take you 2,5 years (at least). Passing rates are also higher for FRM and there is less material and therefor easier to do.
