Software Developer in Bank - Valid Work Experience?

I have five years of software engineering (software developer) experince, and have just passed my Level 3 - was wondering if this would count towards the charter (they have software developer as one of the job titles that qualifies). I basically work in a financial institution that creates all sort of software solutions for the buy/sell side. Most of the big banks use our software. I work in the Economics software package that helps model Economic data, and apply transformations to it, trends, projections, etc. As economics appears at all levels of the CFA, and as its discussed in L3 as part of the top down investment decision, I was wondering if my job helps in the investment decision, i.e. investment profesional will be taking investment decisions based on the results of the software.
Any chance it could count as valid work experience?
 
It sounds like you’re adding value to the investment decision making process so I’d say you’re good.
I’m in IT as well however my experience is really related to the investment decision making process. Exams are all done, now I have to work on the work experience. Time for a career change !
Good luck though, I’d be surprised if your work experience doesn’t count.

is software development still a valid qualified job experience? I thought they removed it awhile back?

this is only a general list of job titles that qualify. The website clearly states that the CFA institute will consider other job titles that add value to the investment decision making process. I have been working as a Business Analyst (at 2 banks and one pension fund) with various trading systems over the past four year and plan to apply for the charter with this experience. Please let me know if anyone thinks that this will not work.
