Solve for X

My mom is a math teacher, and always pushed how important solving for X was. I always told her I would never need it again in my life. Come June 2009 Level 1, I found that on some questions I was unsure about, or wanted to double check, I was able to find the variable I was looking for, and solve for X. I bet I solved for X at least 8-10 times, and it really helped me on some questions I didnt know. Anyone else find this? I didn't find this as much in December, but this exam made it possible on alot of questions .
 
Yup, basic middle school algebra never surprises me with its plethora of uses. I solved for X a lot especially in corp. finance / equity sections. It's a very powerful tool to ensure you have the right answer (as long as you are confident in your setup) and it really doesn't take very long at all.

aahhhhh that probability of failure npv (venture capital) question, i kept on typing away at the calculator and i kept on getting stupid answers. so i solved each answer for the probability and one of them happened to be the probability i calculated. this made me happy.
 
Haha, I also solved for X on a few problems. Like you said CanuckFlyHigh, it helped me on some questions that I was unsure about.
