Hi guys,
I will have an interview with State Street for an entry-level position (Income Administrator to be exact). I believe its a backoffice position dealing with processing bonds' interest payments, principal repayments etc. Its my first job interview in securities related field, Im a recent graduate. What kind of questions should I expect, other than standart HR type?
I also heard they might ask to write a test!? Any comments? Please, let me out with some info.
Thanks!.

Yes, it is back-office position.

As a graduate, they will probably start with introduce yourself then move on to your academic then extracurricular activities. There is no much to work on if you have no experience. Remember to emphasis that tyou have eyes for details and you are willing to stay in the position (even if you don't want to.) coz high turnover has traditionally
be the weakness of custodian industry. The rest are....pretty much normal interview
skills. Go through some careers website.

Maybe you can do some research on the system they use, and maybe their recent press release so that you know what's going on.

Bear in mind that they are global custodian rank 3rd after JPMorgan worldwide securities and The Bank of New York.

takumi.
Thank you for your reply. Ive read through their website, and gathered some info. Ive been working 2 part time jobs while in college, and both were technical. I think thats the reason theyve picked my resume. So I guess I would also have to talk about my work experience.
Now, probably a stupid question, but should I wear a suit or would this be too much?

always go with suit....no matter what!
That's rule no.1

With working experience, I can't help much, guess have to leave it till experienced ppl.
Perhaps, you can practice first on what you did and what are the things you did might
interest them. E.g. technical, how technical, what are the system, how are they related
to custody role and maybe more, how did your experience relate to income admin role.

Interview is show-off time, no matter what questions you get, do not downgrade
yourself. Unless you really have to...and you have a good explanation.
That's rule no.2

some issues in the field.

Good luck.

Takumi,
Thanks a lot for your information. The dusty suit has been cleaned and ironed :) the link carefully studied.

Good luck and all the best.

Bear in mind, this is only an interview.

Looking forward to hear good news from you.

I wish I had good news, but it looks like Ive totally flunked :) The interview was very simple, no technical questions, just behavioural. Ive realized that I have to learn how to monologue about how great I am. Good experience for future though.

Rudeboi,
Yes, I did search the forum and found your post. How did your interview go? Did you get the job? I hope you did, it looks like a decent place to work.

Also, I'll take this opportunity and try to schmooze with you guys . Who knows, maybe someone can give me leads about how to get a back office job in Toronto? Thanks!

yeah I got the job ..i actually start on monday ..its not the job i was lookin for but i had to compromise ..
I went through a few other interviews at a few other firms before i ended up with this ..

If you dont get it .dont worry consider it practice ... practice makes perfect especially with behavioural type interviews ...there is a lot of info available on the net ...

Hey Rudeboi,
Congratulations! What kind of position did they offer you?
Yes, I have to practice the behavioural type.
Good luck on your new job.
