i am studying CFA publications books and Scheweser. I dont have any idea about Stella but Scheweser study notes is really sufficient.. It points out the important concepts in every topic and the sample questions are very useful.. I started both but now when the exam is getting closer and since i have more subjects to cover i left the CFA Publication books and continue only from Scheweser.

Cudi, are the CFA publications worth getting? I've heard that they are only useful for the practice tests.

India - from what I've heard, Stalla is better than Schweser if you are unfamiliar with the material. But beware the Stalla stuff is almost as long as the CFA books. If you're going to be crunched for time (for example: if you're just starting now and have a job to go to...) then schweser might be the better bet.

The real problem is that (almost) no one who PASSED on their first try has used both systems. And someone who passed on their second try after switching systems I've got to imagine would be rather biased.

nyfinance CFA curriculum is really a wonderful set and teaches all subjects very well.. they are really great self study books.. but u have to spend too much time on them.. during daily work its really hard to spend the necessary hours for those books.. But Scheweser study notes are good and sufficient summaries which emphasizes on the LOS and its easy to cover all the subjects .. If u start working for December exam from june or July its not very easy for u to complete both CFA currriculumn and scheweser. maybe in 4 or 5 months it will be more effective to use onlyt Scheweser study notes.. If u happen to start studying lets stay from january or february for dec. exam it will be easier to cover both CFA curriculum and schewese notes. But this time in such a long study period its not very easy to keep motiviated and allocate 2-3 hrs every day... I started to work in late july from CFA curriculum and scheweser notes together but today i have almost finished financial analysis but i saw it its really taking too much time to go.. and after years its not easyfor me to keep motivated so i decided to read only the scheweser notes.. after all i want to leave at least 2 weeks for sample exams... I will consider myself successfull if i can manage to pass Level 1 in my first attemp in Dec..
wish same to everyone in this forum :)
