Just beside me, there was a candidate coming in the morning session without his calculator…. I was internally thinking : two possibilities, this guy is Superman or…..Mr. Bean.

this guy was freaking out because he forgot his calculator. Asked if he could borrow my phone since he didnt bring one. Then he makes his call and starts to walk away with my phone. I was like, “dude, where you going”. He was flipping out. Hope he had someone bring the phone and hope I get karma out of it

Girl next to me was meditating in the lotus position before the morning session. Human pretzel style. Yoga and finance go together like Jews and Muslims.

There were several cute girls taking the test in my center. Was surprised.

I noticed a couple hotties as well. Unfortunately the girl I sat next to was not. To make matters worse she had landfill breath and even though there was no talking during the exam it reeked. Yet just another obstacle thrown in my way.

I wrote in toronto - traffic sucked. if anyone wrote in toronto you know what I’m talking about. people were parking their cars on the highway and walking to the test centre it was so bad

The exam hall was freezing. I went to the bathroom like six times ( AM and PM) :(

You guys here that people in Istanbul have to wait until next year because exam was cancelled?

Yes, I did, that’s crazy!! I would be absolutely FLIPPING out! I would probably start my own demonstrations against the demostrators.

istanbul: can’t they schedule an exam next month or in a few weeks and mark them in their own bucket with a pass/fail rate? there has to be another option instead of making them wait a whole year. all that preparation and stress… that’s terrible. it would be really hard to find motivation after that.

That’s what I dont understand. We dont know how many people this affects but they could have found an alternate site and had them take the exam today or tomorrow.
I mean what is going on there could potentially be more important than this test but at least for them one extra day would not give them that much of an edge.

Also I think, given the situation Istanbul is/was in, it might even make it harder for them, due to not being able to concentrate because the streets are on fire, and your property/family perhaps could be getting stolen/broken/injured/arrested. I heard that Istanbul doesn’t even have a scheduled exam for Dec. So that even messes up the L1 people. Crazy.
Also - I think out of this, CFA doesn’t think we take our test day candidate pledge seriously if they don’t allow them to take the exam the next day/week. Maybe it does give them an unfair advantage, for what maybe a few dozen that maybe go from band 10 to pass? Or maybe grade them separately, if globally the pass rate is 50%, then just pass the 50% in Istanbul, or the MPS, whichever is higher…

Yea, I know what you mean. Even at 7:30 it was jammed. I said screw it, and parked across in the Hotel.
I wrote L3 last year as well… I had a older lady who was hammering away on her calculator. Serious hard hammering for about ~2 hours of the AM and PM (which didn’t make any sense because I literally used the calculator for 15 mins at most for the AM). The whole freakin desk was shaking, then she would erase like mad shaking the whole desk. Drove me nuts.
This year, I had a gentlemen, who was about 70 years old. Calm and quite, didn’t even know he was there, which was awesome. At times though, I was thinking “Maybe he’s hired by Schweser to just sit in the exam and memorize all the questions for them to take back and incorporate it into their material”

last year they had people offering $5 to do a survey after the exam. I was disappointed they did not have them here this year… I thought the planes going above overhead would distract me much more than it did. but I only heard a few.
I’ve always wondered how schweser gets the practice questions for their exam…
fyi the hiway was jammed way before 730. it was jammed well before 7 I think. I came over the hill on the 401 west to the dixon exit and saw a line of cars and I knew right away what it was for lol

Saw a few people with 3 calculators, one girl with 4 calculators. Toronto L3.
The L2/L3 hall was a shit show. People were not listening to the proctors, walking out of their seats without being dismissed, etc.
Regarding the drive in, I came to a grinding halt at the Dixon exit on 401W around 7:15. I could see the exit/ramp was starting to get really jammed behind me but I got to the testing center around 7:45.

Not at all funny, but huge huge respect for a guy who sat and wrote exam near me. He did not have anything below the wrist in his right hand and was writing using his left hand. Unbelievably proud of people like that, so inspite of the fact that the exam was freaking me out, I didnt get completely freaked out :) !!!

does anybody know if the test went on in Oklahoma City? They got hit by an f-5 tornado friday night.
