Those who missed the Level 1 exam marginally, please share your thoughts on study plan this time if you are planning to take the exam again in June. I wrote the Dec 2011 exam with a non finance background and missed it with Band 9. I had weakness in FRA though i fared well in that but my one of the better prepration in Quant killed me though :(

Hey mate,
I missed the Dec 2010 exam margnally. Didnt bother with June 11 and came back fresh for Dec 2011.
The main difference was using flash cards (fucking heaps of them)and alot of exercise. I also took the week before the exam off work to smash out 3 practice exams, under exam conditions.
Also in 2010, I was all about reading/taking notes. This time around I was mainly slugging out practice questions and reviewing my errors.
Hang in there boys, and remember, level one is just a big fucking memory test.
Cheers.

Would suggest reading the CFAI text as background for FRA, that is one of the better written texts on the subject, especially if you are coming from a non-fin background. Also, supplement your understanding with a good fin book such as Brealey-Meyers. Then do tons of practice questions leading up to the test to consolidate your knowledge. I used the Schweser exams– pretty good concise explanations….

@ ma.bgl ,I am on the same boat- Band 9. Registered today for June 2012 Level 1 exam. Last time I didn’t do lot of practice questions, so would focus on that. Just reading doesn’t helps much. Core key is to practice . Planning to finish my all readings by April 15th and then do practice questions and mocs.
