Hi guys,
Long time lurker here, but i thought i would finally join in.
I have gone through the Schweser material once properly and then skimmed through again whilst also reading through the CFAI material, done EOC questions on both and am now preparing to take my first mock today
Last night I went through a cursory glance of each topic…. and then had the sudden realisation…I DONT REMEMBER any of it :|
Am i the only one that feels that way? I was hoping that after going through the mocks that would help, but i just dont feel confident i will be getting a decent enough mark on there and the thought of that just seems demoralising for me….
Any Level 3 successors here to say that this is normal?
Hope everyone is ploughing through, last 60 day stretch guys! good luck!!

Hi Que Sera, I am a first time L3 candidate like yourself. All I can say is that it sounds like you’ve done more than most. Why don’t you focus on quickly revising the BB and Practice Problems in CFAI and begin doing half a paper and reviewing it then rinse and repeat.
Also have you made flashcards? I have done it for about 35% of the course, and it is slow but I am hoping it will prove quite handy in the last 6 weeks.
Anyways you’ve made it this far like the rest of us so stick at it!

I’ve done a similar review and have similar feelings to OP. But try to think back and remember how you felt when you did my first Mock for L2; I’d be willing to bet you didn’t feel extremely confident. I’m going to start tearing through Mocks and practice problems soon - yes it will be brutal at first but that’s expected.
Also, I have plans to make a bit of a “boot camp” week for myself; something to keep the studying interesting. Maybe make a goal to do a few mocks while burning through some flashcard/formula review while ultimately making some sort of progress goal for the end of the week.

glad to know i’m not the only one who has no recollection of material i felt really confident about while reading…oh well 61 dayst to go …..
i’m just gonna keep at it.

I haven’t made any flash cards, and yes in all honesty I think I felt the same this time last year
my plan of attack was to go through 6 Schweser mocks, am and pm and do another 4/5 previous CFAI past papers am section. Once I marked it I would jot down on a notepad anything that was ‘new’ to me or that I didn’t recall well. I will then hopefully use this as a basis to review everything I don’t know.
Worked well last year but I am under no illusion this level is very different and perhaps just that little bit harder
Rinse and repeat is the strategy I will be going with from now on in

I’m in the same boat, ive gone through the material now 2+x times now and still read a los and think to myself, wtf is that hah. I’ve started to make note cards with actual questions & answers to try and commit to memory the small trivial verbiage that you often overlook when simply reading.
Stress management is very important, something i try to do to mitigate the detrimental effects is think bottom line, the worst thing that happens is you fail. Your peers/family/gf won’t look down on you as much as you think (to me, this is the biggest stress factor that i put on myself), you have sunk time - but then againwhat would you be doing alternatively (drinking at bars?, for most its during the winter so skipping a few ski trips isnt the worst thing), finally the thought of having to re-take (i personally have been in that situation already so if it does occur, so be it). All you can do is prepare yourself and put yourself in a good place.
