Want to put together a study group, potentially of people who took the June 06 test, to study for the December 06 test. I study better in groups and could use the feedback and group setting to further my studies. I would prefer to study with those that have already studied, tried and came up short on the 06 test, so it would be more of a review than a teaching session.

Anyone down?

Brett

Hey Arlington,

I am interested in the idea of joining a study group. I reside in Herndon, VA and failed in the june 06 exam.

Please let me know how your are planing to meet for study.

Thanks

I used the Stalla system, and unfortunately some pretty major things happen in May to me, so my study habits were thrown a bit off. I am seeking to get the Tuition Free Online Stalla system and books. I have some older CFA books (2005 loaned by a friend). I will probably go in a similiar order of study that Stalla uses, and I would be happy to share any of the books I can. Having said that I wanted to start a group to possibly do week-end reviews. Something along the lines of set a weekly task of chpaters, study materials, and then review bring questions, and potentially do those questions with the group. Learn strategies, tricks and other ideas from each other. I have a background in Econ and Finance, coupled with taking the exam previously I have a decent ammount of information to bring to the table.

I know that is alot, but just wanted to give some background on myself.

Let me know if you think we can work something out. I was thinking of holding study sessions at a local library or something.

Hi, I am interested in join in the group. I live in Bethesda, MD. I am a Econ major and using schweser notes.

I am good at FSA, Quantitative, Equity. My weakness are fixed-income and derivatives. And I haven't touched Ethics at all.

PTS, did you take the level 1 exam already? It would be good to compare notes from Stalla to Schweser. I would defenitely welcome the additional resources.

Arlington,

I am using schweser as well. My weaknesses are econ, fixed income and derivatives like PTS.

I failed the June one because insufficient study on fixed-income, derivatives and ethics. Actually, for some personal reason, I didn't get chance touch anything one and half month before exam:-(

Hey Arlington and CFA_DC,

Let's have a casual gathering! Where do you live? Arlington? We can find a place convenient to everyone.

A bit late on this thread, but have you all been meeting? Where? I live in Columbia Heights and work downtown. Anything past Clarendon isn't an option for me so anyone closer in to the actual city? I didn't take it in June, but I'd bet we'd all have complementary skills of some kind. I haven't figured out how to contact any of you directly, so please feel free to contact me. Thanks!!

Hey girl, what's your background? I prefer in city too.

I read your post. I think 60K is not unreachable entry-level pay. Once you pass your level 1, you kinda have a ticket to the industry. However, you may find it's easy to land a less technical job, such as investment analysis in a trust or wealth management company. Because equity analysis and financial modeling need more accounting and financial and math skills. It doesn't seem like your background.

Hi PTS. Funny you should mention those industries...I'm expecting to hear back from a family office sometime this week!

Anyway, how do we contact each other. Considering some of the not-friendly people here, I don't want to post my email. I could post to CraigsList and then it will have the automatic forwarding thing. Would that work?

Hey guys,

I live around Dupont Circle and work in bethesda and would be interested in meeting up with you guys. Please let me know what you decide in terms of how to contact eacho other.

Okay, well I went ahead and created a CraigsList posting. Go here:

Okay, so far have heard from two....I sent an Evite. If you're interested, go to the aforementioned CL posting and follow the directions.

I just sent you an email, DCGirl. Talk to you soon and good luck to your job hunting.
