Would anybody take a few seconds and tell me what materials i should get to prepare for Level I exam in Dec? I work full time in a financial company, but have no problem to input 200 hours before attend the exam I in coming Dec. I found this forum is quite helpful. I saw from the discussion that I can purchase materials either from CFAI, or Schweser or from Stalla. Do i really need to purchase those textbooks listed on CFA website and read them? Or study note is good enough for me who has good statistics and some economics and financ background.
I really appreciate your suggestions and advice. Thank you so much.

good question.

i don't understand either.i hope if we are proficient in stats/finance/acct,then study material sound sufficient at this stage?

can we download the curriculum from the CFA website?i only saw the purchase button.it's so confusing.

I think the new design philosophy is "make it hard for people to find what they need to filter out people not serious about the exam." However, the CFAI does provide two ways to find what you may need quickly (though the site seems gawd-awful slow today). The first is a site map (find the link on the bottom of the main page), the second is a search function.

What they call "the curriculum" is the actual study material. For me, a curriculum is the requirements for a program, not the actual material. However, semantics aside, if you want to know the contents of what you need to study to prepare for the exam, it can be found at

https://www.cfainstitute.org/cfaprog/resources/pdf/Levelifinal.pdf

This is the level 1 study session outline.

What will your company pay (if anything) and what do you have to pay out of pocket?

Spend the $899 on the Schweser premium package (Includes study notes and quicksheet, and take the Practice exams/schweser pro/ videoCD options).

if you have a stats/finance background and use these and put in 200 hours and can't pass then hang it up.

Thanks Super I and StealthPlanner. I've got nots in PDF format of the following materials, do you guys think these materials should be good enough (of cource except for some mock exams). Are study notes more important than curriculum?
CFA Level 1 2006 Program Curriculum
Schweser Notes 2006-ebook 1-4
Schweser Study Notes 2006 1-6
Investment Analysis And Portfolio Management

To answer Super1's question. My company pays the exam fee and i'm still in the process of talking with my managers regarding text books. But i've got study notes already and i'm sure it can be covered by the company's policy.

Get Schweser study notes, book 7 (additional practice exam), and secret sause.

Study hard!
