studying advice

Hi, I'm a first-timer doing the CFA Level 1...I plan to use FAR. Is that a good study program? Also, does anyone have advice on the way to study the books CFA gives you with the materials? Thanks so much, and insight and advice whatsoever would be so appreciated!!!!

use the CFA materials only for the major areas, FSA, Equity, Fixed Income together with Schweser, then the other parts......schweser only!

I used notes and the CFAI materials along with SchweserPro, I was well prepared for the exam and did well on it. From what I have gathered, Schweser could be alright for passing L1, if you have the background, to be on the safe side and if you have the time read the material as it's the golden standard.

Level 1 provides much of the basis for the other levels and the CFAI may very easily ask you an indepth question on the exam, so skimping may not be advised.

I would say know FSA, generally if you have to kill one area, kill this one as it's pretty intricate and I find you will get the most marginal benefit from subsequent passes over it.
