Suggestions for buying time after an offer

I cleared a few rounds of interview and was told an offer will be made early this week. I am also supposed to hear from another company this week. I prefer the second company - any suggestions on buying some time with the first company without arousing suspicions?

yeah, just ask for some time to consider the offer - mention that you have to weigh it against other offers that are streaming in...

I wouldn't give a reason (i.e. other offers). I would just say that you need time to review and consider their offer.

Well, I don't see the upside.

It is possible that they could think that you aren't serious about the role, it's a stretch but the recruitment process can be amaturish sometimes.

That's just my opinion.
