Dear all,
I am a Phd student in economics in a good university and will be done in a year or so. I found that I am more interested in finance and investment career than academia (I used to want to work in academia). So I want to change my career track from academia to finance and investment profession. Now I have been thinking wheter I should take CFA exam. Here are my questions on CFA. Hope that you can give me some insights and suggestions. Thanks a lot!
1. It seems to me that taking CFA examine really helps understand and master knowlege related to finance and investment profession (as far as I read the Candidate Body Of Knowlege (CBOK)). If I want to go for finance and investment profession, how helpful will CFA exams be in terms of helping career development in this profession? I am pretty confident that I am strong at economics and econometrics but I know that I am pretty weak at accounting, corporate finance etc.
2. Being more relastic, how much would a perspective employer value a CFA charter holder or someone who is just out of grad school but has already passed CFA level I or II exam? I mean: Is this helpful for a grad who wants to find a job in finance or investment industries to find the job?
I am really new to the community and the finance and investment profession. Your any insights and comments are really appreciated!
