Can one rely on only Kaplan Schweser Books for level 3 ? Going through the CFAI text books is going to be an herculean task. So, what is the way out ? I propose the following, pls give your views and suggestations
1. Read the Scheweser notes thoroughly at least 3 times.
2. Do EOC
3. Do CFAI question papers from last 10 years (available in http://www.justlevel3.com/downloads/) for morning session.
4. For afternoon session practice the Schweser Question Bank.
Is the above enough to crack level 3.
By the way, failed L3 last year, badly (band2).
Looking forward to the responses.

I plan to read some of the CFAI readings but not all - mainly just the big readings. For example, I definitely plan to read CFAI reading 8, but probably not readings 9,10,11 and 12. For those smaller readings I’ll rely on Schweser notes and videos. The instructors in the video will usually say if it’s a big important reading.

It’s gonna be CFAI curriculum material for me the whole way…with copious mock exams and the odd watching of videos when I can’t be bothered reading or answering questions

I see. Have u guys started ? When do u plan to finish reading by end mar? How many hours are you putting in right now on a day to day basis?

I highly recommend using the CFAI texts as the primary source, and the study providers as a supplement. You have to rely more heavily on their stuff in L3 than 1 and 2. The study providers’ material is just not meaty enough. It’ll take time, but it’s worth it. Good luck.

Never cracked a CFAI book. Did Schweser reading, watched video & then did QBank questions on that section until I was easily >80%. Did the weekly live classes. Finished & ready to do practice exams by April 20th.
I suggest you do all 6 Schweser full practive exams (AM/PM), do last 3 or 4 years of CFAI PY exams, & then remediate ALL of them - that is where a lot of learning will come in. Don’t need to go back 6 years. Those 10 exams + remediating will be plenty IMO.
I always used QBank to reinforce after reading Schweser & doing the videos - didn’t do much of them for a final review - maybe ~2,500 Qbank quesitons throughout for lvl 3.
FWIW I started about this time or a couple weeks earlier for each level. Lvl 3 you need to be done at least 2-3 weeks earlier than lvl 1/2 to practice the AM format.
Went through the material in order. Studied ~250 hours total.
Best of luck!

You have plenty of time if you’re planning to start soon…
Yes, the CFAI material is thicker, but using it vs. Schweser notes gave me a MUCH better understanding of the material. Even if you skim some of the less-important sections and use post-it flags to mark the examples or key passages to re-read on your second pass (my strategy), it makes a big difference.
The only way I would use the Schweser notes is if I got behind on my reading and needed to shortcut some sections to catch up again.
good luck!

FinQuiz Smart Summaries + CFAI Blue Boxes + CFAI EOC Questions + Prior 6 Years CFA AM Exams.
