Third Timers

Anyone else on their third time? I have been band 9 two years in a row and I am going to give it one more go. Wondering what all the strategy is going to be from others on their third time.
My current plan is to review my notes and all the material throughout the fall, then when january hits go straight into mocks, eocs and BBs again with a goal to do eocs and bbs three times over and hit over 10+ mocks. I find my biggest problem last year was I forgot everything I had learned because between June and January I never reviewed anything and then I ended up spending January to April re-learning all the material.
 
strategy is simple : practise as many mock as you can, you should familiar with the curriculum so it’s more easy to practise, then re-learn and practise again

Third and final go round for me, band 6 and band 10.
I plan on slowly reviewing materail oct-dec, as you said, leaving it from june-jan is like starting from scratch. Then soon as jan hits straight into mocks, q banks, blue boxes and any other source of questions.
Its going to a long and tough slog…!

I m taking it for the third time (2014 -5th band 2015- 9th band)
Thinking to start in November. Last year I started in august and around may I Dint revise enough and in the end I forgot so many things.
 
BobbyBraveheart….mate, I used to read your posts leading up the the L2 exam and I really thought you would pass - I was very surprised when you didn’t.
From the way you answered and discussed various questions, it seemed to me that you knew your stuff - I can’t believe that youre THAT far away from nailing this thing.
I wish you luck for this next attempt and keep my fingers crossed for you.
 
If you’ve failed twice it’s time to take a different approach.
  • Print out all of the EOC questions - do them ALL several times
  • Flash cards - Review them over and over and over and over again until your eyes bleed
  • WRITE OUT EVERY formulas on a note pad, over and over again
  • WRITE your notes in a moleskin notebook - review them EVERYDAY before you go to sleep
  • Take 6 mocks, take each of them twice - Keep track of your scores and most importantly review every question you missed and also if you missed them AGAIN on your second try. The mock at level II is less about practicing the test and more about understanding your weak areas.
  • Time yourself when you study. Need to take a piss? Pause the timer and piss, restart it when you return. Track your daily, weekly and cumulative hours. Shoot for 350 “actual” study time
The above was my approach and I passed my first attempt.

Thanks, I still can’t believe it to be honest. It’s amazing year over year how your scores can change. First attempt over 70% in topics like ethics and corp fi, then a year later failing grades in both. Just hope the questions align for me this year. I’m going to work like a maniac this year doing every mock I can get my hands on two times over and do EOCs and BBs until I can’t see anymore.
 
In the same boat as you as well. Band 9 in 2014, and band 10 this past year. I am going to try more active studying than the past go arounds. Since this is the third time going through the material I will focus more on the EOC, Mocks, questions, etc. and repeat until I know the answers in my sleep. The past two attempts I didn’t get serious with my mocks, and EOC until April/May. Good luck to all us third timers.
 
I studied for about 3-4 months and my approach was repitition, repitition, repitition.
When I woke up, I’d memorize the formulas while brushing, shower, putting on clothes etc…so utilized 1 hour there.
I played Schweser videos on my Iphone everyday for 3-4 months during my commute to work which lasted 1 hour (so total of 2 hours everyday). I kept repeating until I memorized the video itself. So, utilized 3 hours daily without any extra time off.
After coming home and having dinner, I’d again study for 1 hour or so (many times slept with book on my hand).
On weekends, I’d accelerate and stretch the studies to about 6-8 hours in a single day.
Most important, I maintained a positive attitude, was calm and visualized myself passing the exam.
I know all of the above is painful and boring and when you feel that way, just remember it is still less painful than going through it again next year. I passed all levels in my first attempt using a similar approach. and I know you can do it as well. Good Luck!

This is the worst part. I went into it this year thinking “if they ask me all the questions I know then I’ll be fine”, but there were plenty of things they could have asked that would have killed me. I got lucky first try and walked out feeling very grateful they didn’t ask questions on a number of topics I had barely covered.
 
Bobby, I thought you passed man becuase I remember studying off your notes with my buddy and telling him basically to make sure we have all the notes down pat like you suggested!
I just remembered texted him and saying read this and do it all.
He passed this year finally.
 
Get Wiley videos and watch them before picking up the notes.
Don’t bother with the video if it isn’t done by Peter or Basit.
 
I really think you guys are not practising enough itemsets
Get hold of tough itemset from prep providers and just do as many as possible
